We’re facing big challenges, and we need bold, independent leadership to tackle them head-on

In 2019, I ran for alderman to bring bold, independent leadership to City Hall and take on the big challenges facing our city.

Over the past three years, I’ve been working to ensure the 47th Ward is a place where everyone can find and keep a home; where our schools are fully funded, regardless of a parent’s ability to fundraise; and where our public safety institutions are modernized, transparent, and accountable.

Together, we’ve accomplished a lot. Now I’m running for re-election because I know we’re just getting started. We can craft a plan to preserve our two- and three-flats, and create a permanent source of funding to support our homeless neighbors—including the 1 in 7 students who experience homeless during their time in CPS.

We can address community violence by expanding government support for gun violence prevention organizations like CRED and READI, and by modernizing CPD and our other local public safety institutions. We can also ensure that a paramedic and a crisis worker are available to respond to non-violent mental-health calls to 911, and that when you call the domestic violence hotline there is always a safe place for you to stay.

We can make sure it’s safe to bike or walk to school or work, and that the CTA is safe and reliable. Together we can reduce our city’s carbon footprint and reestablish Chicago's Department of the Environment. We can ensure that all students have access to quality mental health care, and that Chicago has publicly financed elections so that regular, working people have an opportunity to represent our communities in City Hall.

In the last few years, we’ve faced unprecedented challenges that have proven just how strong our community is. Now as we rebuild and revitalize, we are coming together from all corners of the 47th Ward to make the next chapter for the City of Chicago our best one yet.
